Humphreys pens new Warriors deal

Exciting young back Perry Humphreys has committed his future to Warriors by signing a new deal with the Club.

After joining the Warriors Academy in 2014, Humphreys burst onto the first-team scene as he was handed his debut on the wing against Rotherham Titans in the Championship.

He soon bagged his first try for the Club away at Moseley, while his fantastic solo effort against Leinster A in the British & Irish Cup semi-final earned Warriors a place in the showpiece event which they went on to win in 2015.

Humphreys was also an ever-present for Worcester Cavaliers in the 2014/15 season, scoring three tries in seven appearances as the young side reached the Aviva A League final.

The paceman continued his growth in the 2015/16 campaign, featuring in the European Challenge Cup and was once again a key member of the Cavaliers squad, scoring six tries before being rewarded with a first-team contract in February 2016.

At the start of this season, Humphreys made his Aviva Premiership debut at Twickenham against Saracens before scoring a sensational try on his home Premiership bow against Gloucester Rugby a week later.

The talented youngster was then handed his first Premiership start and crowned the appearance with a stunning try as he beat England’s Anthony Watson, and went on to make it three tries in three consecutive games when he dotted down against Sale Sharks.

His early-season performances also saw him pick up the Club’s Player of the Month award for September.

Head Coach Carl Hogg said: “Perry is yet another example of a young player who has grasped his opportunity in the early stages of this season.

“He provides great competition across the back three and has grown immensely during his first two seasons at the Club.

“At just 22, Perry still has plenty of potential and we are excited about working with him to help him reach the top of his game.”

Humphreys added: “I’m thrilled to have signed with a Club that is clearly heading in the right direction.

“I’ve really enjoyed the last couple of seasons alongside a great bunch of players and I continue to learn off some fantastic role models in players such as Chris Pennell and Bryce Heem.

“The best way to improve as a player is through game-time and there’s no better place for opportunities for young players than here at Warriors.”
