One month to go – Acorns charity shirt revealed

Warriors have unveiled a special edition playing jersey to help support the work of Acorns Children’s Hospice – exactly one month before the big annual Charity Matchday at Sixways.

The eye-catching new shirt features the orange of the Acorns logo intertwined with Warriors’ traditional navy and will be worn by the players against Harlequins on Sunday 1 January 2017 – the seventh annual Charity Matchday for Acorns.

The limited-edition shirts will be available to purchase online and from the Sixways Store in the run-up to the big game, with all proceeds going to Acorns to help support the charity’s work providing care for local life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their families.

As well as the replicas, fans will be able to get their hands on the match-worn shirts by requesting a silent auction form from the Club, with all proceeds raised again going to Acorns.

Warriors’ Sam Betty, who is the Club’s Acorns Player Ambassador, said: “My teammates and I regularly visit the hospice to meet staff, children and families and see first-hand the incredible work which goes on, so it’s an honour to get behind Acorns through the launch of this shirt.

“The Charity Matchday is a great opportunity to have a fantastic day out with friends and family, and the money raised will help make a real difference.”

Louise Arnold, Acorns Director of Income Generation, said: “We’re thrilled that the seventh annual Charity Matchday will take place on New Year’s Day and we hope people will kick-off 2017 with Warriors and Acorns for such a special day in our calendar.

“Warriors will once again wear a striking special edition charity shirt, that incorporates our colours and logo, and we’re delighted that fans can also bid for them in an auction to raise more funds for Acorns.

“We are so grateful to Warriors and fans for their ongoing support, particularly as we rely so heavily on fundraising and special events like these for the nearly £10 million it costs to continue providing our care.”

A number of fundraising activities will take place at the Charity Matchday as Warriors go head-to-head with Harlequins at 3pm.

The Club have allocated a number of tickets for the match at the exclusive Acorns rate of £30 for Adults and £20 for Under 16s which includes use of the Charity Lounge and a complementary meal with a proportion of each ticket sold going directly to Acorns.

The Acorns tickets for the Charity Matchday will be sold on a first-come first-served basis, and can be purchased by visiting www.acorns.org.uk/warriors, emailing corporatefun@acorns.org.uk or calling 01564 825000.

In the past year, Acorns for the Three Counties has cared for over 210 children and more than 270 families, including those who are bereaved. It costs Acorns nearly £10 million every year to provide these services and it relies on the generosity of the public for the majority of this amount.
