Young Warriors impress on loan/dual registration

Five Warriors were out on loan/dual registration last weekend, as they look to gain experience playing competitive first-team rugby.

Trialist Wilhelm van der Sluys, who joined the Club last month, is on loan at Rotherham Titans and featured at the weekend against former Warrior Darren O’Shea with Munster A recording a 35-24 win.

Academy back Afeafe Haisila Lokotui, on loan at Birmingham Moseley, played alongside Warriors legend Alex Grove as they defeated Esher 24-6 at Billesley Common on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Academy duo Ben Fowles and Kailus Hutchinson were also in action for Luctonians as they travelled up north to face Scunthorpe in National League Two North.

Both started the clash and were involved in a closely-contested match in which the hosts edged the game 20-18.

Sam Ripper-Smith was also among the replacements last weekend for Loughborough Students who thrashed Fylde 46-17.

Academy Manager Chim Gale said: “It’s important that young players get game-time and competitive first-team rugby plays a significant part in their development.”
