Warriors sign Scotland prop Ryan Grant

Warriors are delighted to announce the signing of Scotland international Ryan Grant, who has joined the Club with immediate effect.

The loosehead prop, who is known for his scrummaging ability, has made 25 appearances for his country and was also part of the British & Irish Lions squad which defeated Australia in 2013.

Grant brings a wealth of experience at the highest level of the game and has also represented Scotland at the RBS 6 Nations and Rugby World Cup.

At club level, the 31-year-old has been a key member of the Glasgow Warriors squad since joining the club in 2010 and was instrumental as the side won the Guinness PRO 12 title in 2015.

Grant started his professional career at Border Reivers after serving in the Royal Signals and was soon called up to the Scotland Under 21 side.

After making his Scotland A debut in 2006, he moved to Edinburgh Rugby a year later before joining Glasgow Warriors in 2010.

The 31-year-old made his full Scotland debut against Australia in the first Test of the 2012 summer tour.

He starred for Scotland during the 2013 RBS 6 Nations before being called up to the Lions squad later that year.

Warriors Head Coach Carl Hogg said: “Ryan possesses an abundance of experience at the highest level of the game and has been successful in club and international rugby.

“He was a major driving force in Glasgow’s PRO 12 title-winning season and his Lions selection in 2013 illustrates the high regard in which he is held within rugby.”

Grant added: “I am delighted to be at Sixways and I am hungry to get out on the pitch and help the side during some very important matches over the second-half of the season.

“The Aviva Premiership is a fierce league and I am looking forward to the challenge of going head-to-head with some of the best props in the world.”
