Parker set for Wales debut

Worcester Valkyries’ Rhiannon Parker will make her Wales debut when her side travel to Broadwood Stadium to take on Scotland in Friday’s Six Nations match (kick-off 6.20pm).

Parker is one of two debutants in the Wales side alongside Jasmine Joyce and they will line-up alongside Valkyries’ Dyddgu Hywel, who will start at full-back as Wales look to get back to winning ways following their defeat to England in the last round.

Head Coach Rowland Phillips said: “Jasmine and Rhiannon are two talented individuals who have been in and around the squad for a while now and we feel the way they’ve performed in the warm-up games and in training has earnt them this opportunity.”

Meanwhile two Valkyries are included in the Scotland squad for the match as the hosts go in search of their first Six Nations win of 2017.

Tracy Balmer will start at loosehead prop, while Lyndsay O’Donnell has been named amongst the replacements.

Scotland Head Coach Shade Munro said: “The players are a tight-knit group and are determined to keep improving together. As a squad we remain focused and determined on making progress in this campaign and competing hard against all opposition.”

The game will be streamed live on BBC Sport online.
