Warriors centurion Aleki Lutui returns to Sixways

Warriors centurion Aleki Lutui will return to Sixways this summer to become a Community Ambassador.

The Tonga international, who left the Club in 2013, will use the new role to pass on his experience to youngsters who attend Warriors Rugby Camps and other community events.

Aleki is Warriors' fifth highest appearance maker of all time, having played 186 games during seven years as a player at Sixways.

The hooker, who still plies his trade in National League 1 with Ampthill RFC, counts Waikato Chiefs, Bay of Plenty, Edinburgh Rugby and Gloucester Rugby as his former clubs.

Aleki represented his country 38 times during a 16-year international career and made nine appearances across three Rugby World Cups. He also represented the Pacific Islanders seven times.

His involvement as Warriors Community Ambassador will begin during our May Half-Term Camps at Sixways from May 30 to 31 and at Wolverhampton RUFC from June 1 to 2.

Warriors Community Event Co-ordinator Sam Johnson said: “We are thrilled that Aleki will become the Community Ambassador for our camps and events.

“He brings with him a huge amount of playing and coaching experience which will be utilised to inspire the next generation of Warriors players. He will play a pivotal role in adding stardust to our Rugby Camps.”

Aleki added: “This role is a perfect fit for me and the Club. I am really looking forward to giving the next generation of rugby players an insight into playing at the top level of the game.

“Joining the Warriors Community Team and having the opportunity to inspire and develop young players is something I am incredibly passionate about.”

The Community Team has also been bolstered by the addition of new Community Rugby Coach Rob Lewis, who will be based in Herefordshire.

Rob has enjoyed a 12-year professional career with Newport Gwent Dragons, Cardiff Blues and London Welsh and will combine his role with his playing career as he will be turning out for Birmingham Moseley during the 2017/18 campaign.

Rob will be responsible for connecting with and supporting grassroots rugby in Herefordshire.

Warriors Community Delivery Co-ordinator Matthew Jones added: “Aleki and Rob will add substantial expertise to the already well-equipped Community Team and we look forward to welcoming them and seeing them engage with talented youngsters across the region.”
