Sam Vesty joins up with England for Argentina tour

Sam Vesty will form part of England’s coaching team when they travel to Argentina for a two-Test series this summer.

Vesty will work alongside Head Coach Eddie Jones after being appointed Skills Coach.

Eddie Jones said: “I was impressed by how Worcester attack. He's got a nice feel for the game and I think he can add to us and help us with the attack.”

Vesty has excelled as Warriors Backs Coach since being handed a first-team role in 2015 and helped Warriors rack-up an impressive 56 Premiership tries during the 2016/17 season.

The 35-year-old, who helped steer Warriors to the Aviva A League final in 2015, has also been responsible for the Sixways side’s European Challenge Cup campaign over the last 12 months.

During his playing days, Vesty was capped at Under 18 and Under 21 levels and also made two senior appearances for England – both against Argentina – in 2009.

Warriors Director of Rugby Gary Gold said: “Sam has done tremendously well to help Warriors develop a potent attack, which has proved a real handful to opposition defences over the last two seasons.

“Our attacking record last season was something we are very proud of and Sam will now get the opportunity to develop his coaching style further and gather invaluable knowledge, which will be hugely beneficial to everyone at Sixways when he returns to the Club later this summer.”
