Davies – We have to learn a lot quicker

Worcester Valkyries Director of Rugby Roy Davies admits his side need to “learn a lot quicker” ahead of their clash with champions Harlequins Ladies on Saturday in Round Six of the Tyrrells Premier 15s (kick-off 2pm).

Valkyries were beaten 43-0 by local rivals Gloucester-Hartpury Women despite showing signs of promise in last weekend’s clash at Sixways.

And the Director of Rugby knows the challenges that lie ahead but reiterated that his players need to wise up if they are to compete against other sides in the league.

He said: “Our messages aren’t going to change. We just need to deliver on the things we discuss during training.

“Harlequins aren’t reigning champions for no reason. They are a well-drilled side and they will come here wanting to walk over us and we need to ensure that doesn’t happen.

“We must to retain possession and make sure we are clean and accurate with our play then we stand every chance.”

Despite Valkyries suffering six straight defeats in all competitions, Davies praised his side but admits errors are costing them.

He explained: “Over the past few weeks I have seen encouraging signs. The squad is progressing albeit a little slower than I wanted but they are a talented group. We just need to gel them together.

“There were some really good elements out there on the pitch. We’ve spoken about it a lot, we do some great things but we are let down by the errors we make.”

Entry to watch Valkyries vs Harlequins is FREE for Warriors Season Ticket holders and Juniors, while being £5 for all others.
