Recently-appointed Director of Rugby Alan Solomons spoke to the media for the first time today ahead of his first game in charge against Saracens at Allianz Park on Saturday.
Here’s what he had to say:
- This is the top domestic competition in the world. There is no easy week in the Premiership.
- It’s been a smooth transition for everyone as I’ve been here for the past two months and not a lot has changed. Myself and Gary Gold were always liaising closely.
- The Club has lots of talent, fantastic facilities and great support.
- It was a difficult start to the season with key players missing and some tough fixtures but we have seen progress in the past five Premiership games, picking up 17 points.
- We are playing a more balanced game and playing to our strengths.
- There was a lot of pressure on us against Irish, especially being at home but the squad dealt with it well.
- Saracens have achieved wonderful things and are back on track after doing well at Leicester Tigers.
- Jono Lance will be out for approximately six weeks after sustaining a broken hand against London Irish.
- Nick Schonert picked up an ankle injury and we are awaiting results of a scan to determine how long he will be out for.
- Peter Stringer’s contract has come to an end and he has left the Club to return to Ireland.
