Mills commits future to Warriors

Mills signs new deal to stay at Sixways

Warriors are delighted to confirm that centre Ryan Mills has committed his future to the Club after signing a new long-term deal.

The re-signing further illustrates Warriors’ intent to build stability and continuity within the squad, following the news that flanker Sam Lewis penned a new deal in December.

Mills, who was called up to England’s training squad last summer, has become an important member of Warriors’ first-team since his arrival at the Club in 2014.

Still just 25-years-old, Mills has played 65 times for Warriors, starting all but three of those games.

The former England Under 20 star has racked up 168 points in that time and played a significant role in the 2016/17 season as he helped Gary Gold’s side beat the drop, including an unforgettable 24-point haul from the tee as Warriors beat Saracens at Sixways back in February.

The centre, who can play at fly-half, has also captained the side on a number of occasions.

Mills said: “Worcester gave me a great opportunity when I moved here and I have enjoyed the challenges so far.

“We have a fantastic group of players and I am enjoying my time on and off the field with a great group of lads, which goes a long way to performing well.

“I genuinely believe the Club can have long-term success with the current squad and youth we have coming through and would love to be a part of that.

“If we can keep a core group of players and coaches together, moving up the table and becoming a successful club with stability and longevity isn’t an unrealistic goal, and one every player and fan would love to be involved in.”

Warriors Director of Rugby Alan Solomons added: “We’re ecstatic that Millsy has committed himself to the Club.

“He has been an integral part of this squad for the past few years and has become one of the senior figures of the side whom the youngsters can certainly look up to.

“He has a bright future ahead of him and we’ll work closely with him to try and ensure he operates at the top of his game in the coming seasons.”
