Solomons happy with player recruitment ahead of 2018/19 campaign

Solomons says he has nearly completed player recruitment for next season

Warriors Director of Rugby Alan Solomons says he is very happy with how his squad is shaping up ahead the 2018/19 campaign.

Warriors have already announced six new signings for next season, while Solomons also brought former Edinburgh lock Anton Bresler to Sixways in December.

And with nine current players also committing their futures to the Club by signing new contracts in recent months, Solomons believes the Club will be in a good position going into next season.

He said: “Our recruitment process has gone well and I’m really happy with where we are.

“We’ve done our planning and we’ve got stuck in to making important signings so it’s coming together nicely. We’ve made really good progress and we’re pretty far down the track with what we need.

“We’ve also worked hard to retain some key players and we are confident that we will have a very strong squad next season.”

In recent seasons Warriors have invested heavily in their Academy set-up, with the likes of Josh Adams, Perry Humphreys and Jack Singleton all progressing to the first-team and coming to the attentions of their national coaches.

And Solomons is confident the current Academy crop will start to push their more senior colleagues for starting places next season.

Solomons continued: “The players at the top end of our Academy are performing well and we certainly have players who will be able to step-up in the future.

“We have six players away with the England Under 20s squad, which really does illustrate the strength of our Academy, so there is a very bright future ahead for the Club.”

Meanwhile Solomons confirmed that he is not looking to make any more back row signings ahead of next season.

He added: “We have completed the recruitment of our loose forwards. We’ve got strength in depth in that position and there will be good competition for starting places.

“Within a relatively short period we should have our recruitment for next season completed.”
