Brincat wins Player of the Month award

Valkyries back row wins award

Worcester Valkyries forward Cara Brincat has won the Valkyries Player of the Month for February, sponsored by Councillor Richard Udall.

Back row Brincat, 18, enjoyed a fine month in Club colours while also having represented England Under 20s against The Army, and in their historic first-ever victory away in France.

Valkyries Director of Rugby Roy Davies said: “Cara has been improving week by week across the season, culminating in really strong performances against Gloucester-Hartpury and Harlequins in February.

“She works exceptionally hard and has taken on the responsibility for running our lineout which she has done really well.”

Brincat studies at the University of Worcester as part of the Valkyries’ partnership with the uni, meaning that she has been able to combine her academic studies with an elite rugby programme, which has proved crucial to her development.

Davies added: “To be honest, having the time to dedicate to her rugby has been essential to her growing into a Tyrrells Premier 15s player this season.

“She has fully embraced every opportunity she’s been given and has a bright future at Valkyries.”
