CEO Sleepout – Business leaders to sleep rough at Sixways

Warriors bosses to sleep rough in aid of homeless charity

On Thursday 26 April, 80 business leaders from the community will be sleeping rough on the concrete floor of Sixways Stadium’s South Stand as part of CEO Sleepout.

Warriors Managing Director Gus Mackay, Head of Warriors Community Foundation Carol Hart and Head of Commercial Leyton Williams will be among those sleeping rough as the Club and the local community aim to raise awareness and funds to support homeless people across Worcestershire.

CEO Sleepout is a charity which fights homelessness and poverty across the UK, and Warriors, who have been supporting homelessness for many years, work with the homeless community in a number of ways.

The first homeless rugby team – Warriors Homeless Rugby – was set up in 2012 and has been running for six years.

Warriors players make the trip down to Maggs Day Centre to buy, cook and serve food to the homeless while the Club have also provided warm clothing for those living on the streets – also working closely with St Paul’s Hostel.

The Club plays its part in stocking the local food bank, led by the Rugby Department, and Warriors’ HITZ programme also offers a safe place and support for young homeless people.

The Community Foundation sits on the Worcester Homeless Alleviation Forum and plays an active role in raising awareness of adverse childhood experiences which is the main cause of homelessness.

Head of Warriors Community Foundation Carol Hart said: “Some people sleep out 365 days a year and this should not be happening in our community. As a business, Warriors lead by example, but there is a whole lot more to be done and every penny raised for CEO Sleepout will support homelessness and provide better outcomes for people in desperate need.”

Warriors’ aim is to reach £1000 so if you can support, please click here.
