Taufete’e to start for USA against Samoa

Warriors hooker Joe Taufete’e will win his 17th international cap when he starts for USA Eagles against Samoa at the Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastian, Spain on Saturday.

Taufete’e was one of seven American players based in Europe who linked up with the Eagles squad in San Sebastian earlier this week.

USA, coached by former Warriors Director of Rugby Gary Gold, began their Autumn Internationals programme with a 59-22 defeat against the New Zealand Maori All Blacks in Chicago last Saturday.

Taufete’e, 26, joined Warriors two years ago having converted to rugby from American Football as recently as 2011.

He made his international debut against South Africa in the 2015 Rugby World Cup and he will be making the tenth start of his career against Samoa.

Taufete’e scored two tries in the 30-29 victory over Scotland in Houston in June on his last appearance for the Eagles.
