Davies returns to lead Valkyries

Valkyries will be boosted by the return of captain Lark Davies for their Tyrrells Premier 15s match against Saracens at Sixways on Saturday (kick-off 2.00pm).

Davies returns to club action after playing for England in their recent Quilter Internationals including a Player of the Match performance in the win over Canada at Doncaster two weeks ago.

She takes her place in the middle of the front row but England wing Lydia Thompson misses out. Thompson scored a hat-trick of tries in England’s win over Ireland at Twickenham two weeks ago but has been ruled out of the Saracens match by injury.

In Thompson’s absence, Emily Partridge will make her Valkyries debut having impressed playing for Birmingham University in recent weeks.

Lock Stacey Maguire suffered a knee injury in last week’s match against Firwood Waterloo so her place in the second row goes to Sarah Bill.

On the bench, Milly O’Donnell, Cara Brincat and Sam Galea return and scrum-half Hannah Johnson is in line to make her debut.

Valkyries Development XV will also play their Saracens counterparts at Sixways on Saturday in the second match of the double-header (kick-off 4.30pm).
