Adams named in Wales’ Six Nations squad

Warriors winger Josh Adams has been included in Warren Gatland’s 39-strong Wales squad for the Guinness Six Nations.

Adams made his debut against Scotland in last season’s Six Nations and has since won five more caps, the most recent against South Africa at the Principality Stadium in November’s Autumn Internationals.

The free-scoring Adams scored his first international try in the victory over Argentina in Sante Fe  in June and made his 50th appearance for Warriors at Sale Sharks in September.

Wales will be captained by Alun Wyn Jones with Gatland, the former British and Irish Lions coach, leading them into his final Six Nations having announced that he will be stepping down as Wales coach after this year’s World Cup.

“We are incredibly excited heading into the 2019 Guinness Six Nations and we are looking forward to kicking the tournament off in Paris against France,” Gatland said.

“We have a really experienced squad of players, who have been around a number of campaigns together and we feel we are in a pretty good place going into this huge year.

“We have got a few injuries and have selected a larger squad because of that.  “We initially selected 40 players but that was reduced to 39 on Monday with Taulupe’s injury ruling him out.

“Six Nations rugby is an important time of year for rugby fans, players and coaches alike and we are all looking forward to meeting up and preparing for this year’s championship.”
