Warriors face Harlequins in first Premiership Visually Impaired match

A Warriors Visually Impaired team will travel to Twickenham Stoop on Saturday to take on their Harlequins counterparts.

It is the first time two Premiership Rugby teams have gone head-to-head in a Visually Impaired match.

A Warriors Mixed Ability team will also travel to the Stoop to take on Surrey Chargers.

The Warriors Mixed Ability team will be made up of players from Stafford, Shropshire Stags and the Warriors Community Foundation disability project.

Around 45 players will make the journey to the capital and the players will then stay to watch the Warriors first-team face Harlequins in the Gallagher Premiership.

Warriors BME & Disability Lead Simon Northcott said: “We are looking forward to taking two teams to London and we are excited to be involved in the first ever Visually Impaired match between two Premiership rugby clubs.

“We work with a lot of people from all across the region and these matches are a good opportunity for players to break down barriers, meet new people and take an active role in society.”

Visually Impaired and Mixed Ability rugby form part of Warriors’ Hugby project. For more information about the Club’s rugby programmes for people with disabilities, please visit the Social Inclusion section of our website by clicking here.
