Liam Duffy – a Warriors Apprenticeship

Former Worcester Warriors HITZ Learner Liam Duffy has become an Apprentice with Worcester Warriors Community Foundation to broaden his experience.

Liam is currently studying on his Sports and PE Teaching qualification and has been utilising his new skills not just with young people in schools but with older people at the Club’s Dementia Café.

The Foundation has weekly sessions for people with Dementia and their families/carers which are held at the Stadium.  Each week up to 40 people attend and take part in soft sports sessions and Liam plays a pivotal role in supporting the sessions.

Worcester Warriors Community Foundation works to break down inter-generation barriers and regularly engages HITZ learners with the Dementia Café to raise awareness of some of the issues faced by older people and vice versa.

Through this process, HITZ learners have also become Dementia Friends by attending a workshop.

The Club was recognised recently by The Alzheimer’s Society by winning a National Award for their work with people living with Dementia.
