Adams and Davies are Grand Slam winners

Warriors winger Josh Adams and Valkyries hooker Lark Davies became Grand Slam winners on Saturday.

Adams started for Wales in their 25-7 win over Ireland at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff and Davies came on as a replacement in England’s 80-0 demolition of Scotland at Twickenham.

A first minute try from Hadeligh Parkes and 20 points from the boot of Gareth Anscombe gave Wales the Guinness Six Nations title and extended their record winning sequence to 14 matches.

Adams made a major contribution to Wales’ success by scoring a try in the wins over Italy, England and Scotland in only his second Six Nations.

Wales’ win meant that they had the Six Nations title secured before England kicked off against Scotland at Twickenham.

England surrendered a 31 points lead but salvaged a 38-38 draw thanks to a last-gasp try and conversion from George Ford.

Warriors centre Ben Te’o won his 20th international cap – his 18th for England – when he came on as a 77th minute replacement for Manu Tuilagi.

England Women then took centre stage at Twickenham where they ran in 12 tries in an easy bonus point win.

England were 45-0 up at half-time and they doubled their score in an equally one-sided second half to wrap up their 15th Six Nations and 14th Grand Slam.

A quartet of Valkyries players helped Wales end their Six Nations campaign with a 24-5 win over Ireland at Cardiff Arms Park on Sunday.

It was the first time since 2011 that Wales had beaten the Irish in the Six Nations and it meant they leapfrogged them in the table.

Wing Jasmine Joyce started for Wales and scored a long-range individual try which put the seal on the win. Alisha Butchers also started at blindside flanker with Alex Callender and Ffion Lewis used as replacements.

Butchers, who was voted player of the match, set up a try for Lleucu George and helped Wales into fourth place in the final table

England Under-20s ended their Six Nations campaign with a 45-7 bonus point victory over Scotland at Northampton on Friday with significant contributions from Warriors trio Ollie Lawrence, Kai Owen and James Scott.

Lawrence was voted fans’ player of the match and set up his centre partner Cameron Redpath for England’s bonus point try. Loosehead prop Owen made his first start for England Under-20s and lock Scott made his second start of the tournament having impressed in the victory over Italy at Bedford.

Valkyries wing Cara Clarke scored a try but could not save England Under-20s from a 40-14 defeat at the hands of France at Newbury on Saturday.

Four more Valkyries players – full-back Carys Cox, centre Megan Varley, loosehead prop Akina Gondwe and flanker Cara Brincat – also started for England who suffered back-to-back defeats against France.
