Local schools set for Sixways finals

Sixways will play host to two cross-border schools county cup finals on Wednesday March 27.

The winners of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Cups at Under-14s and Under-16s level will have an exciting opportunity to play off on the first team pitch at the home of Gallagher Premiership club Worcester Warriors to decide the top local team in the Two Counties Fruit Bowl.

The initiative was launched last year with Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School winning both competitions.

Bishop’s will be back on Wednesday to defend their Under-16s title against South Bromsgrove High School (kick-off 4.00pm) but there will be a new name on the Under-14s trophy.

Herefordshire champions Hereford Cathedral School will meet Worcestershire champions Dyson Perrins School from Malvern in the Under-14s final (kick-off 2.00pm).

The Two Counties Fruitbowl showcases the work that coaches from Warriors Community Rugby department do around the region.

So far this season they have coached more than 5,500 youngsters in 60 schools in  Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Greater Birmingham, the Black Country and Warwickshire.
