Warriors Inclusion team enjoy Spanish tour

Warriors Inclusion team enjoyed a week of rugby, fun and friendship during a recent week-long tour of Spain.

The team, supplemented by five players from Stafford RFC’s mixed ability team, played three matches in the third Festival Internacional TRI Rugby Inclusivo at the Rugby Cullera club and won all three.

Warriors also demonstrated their culinary skills with teams finishing first and third in the post-tournament paella cooking competition which was judged by an independent panel from Valencia.

But there was more to the tour than performances on the pitch. Some of the players were experiencing their first trip abroad, others had not left the UK since childhood and some were making their first trip without carers or parents.

The tour included a welcome dinner organised by Simon Artiles Shannon, the tour host from  Trust Rugby Spain and participation with the Indepen-dance group from Glasgow.

The Warriors squad also attended a welcome reception hosted by the Mayor of Cullera which was attended by the other participating teams – Trust Rugby International, Hernani, Barcelona and Valencia.

The successful tour ended with trips to Aquuopolis Cullera, Castell Cullera and Valencia and a day on the local beach.
