Owen in Hartpury squad for season opener

Warriors loosehead prop Kai Owen is set to make his debut for Hartpury in their Championship Cup match against Doncaster Knights at Castle Park on Saturday.

England Under-20s international Owen is one of five Three Pears Warriors Academy players who are dual registered with clubs in the Greene King IPA Championship or National One this season so that they can gain valuable experience of senior rugby.

Owen played for Hartpury in their pre-season friendly against Ospreys last month and has been named as a replacement for their first competitive match of the campaign.

The two other Warriors players dual-registered with Hartpury, lock James Scott and wing Alex Hearle, have been named in Warriors’ senior squad for Saturday’s Premiership Rugby Cup match against Leicester Tigers at Sixways.
