Warriors Community Foundation open second Tackling Dementia Sports Cafe

Warriors Community Foundation have opened a second Tackling Dementia Sports Café, this one in Kidderminster.

The first Tackling Dementia Sports Café was set up two years ago and runs every Wednesday morning offering carers and people living with dementia fun, activities and low impact sports as well as the opportunity for a chat and cuppa.

Last year the Foundation’s Tackling Dementia Sports Café won the Dementia Friendly Organisation of the Year Award at the National Dementia Awards which encouraged organisers to run a second café.

The new café is based at Youth House, Bromsgrove Street in Kidderminster and will run weekly on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm and is free to all.

Youth House is equipped with a kitchen, an outdoor sports area and a huge sports hall. In the coming weeks the Foundation hope to run cooking for carers and people living with dementia sessions and yoga to help with well-being.

The group is run by Warriors coaches and volunteers who have all attended Dementia Friends Awareness sessions to ensure the group is as inclusive as possible.

For more information about either of these sessions please contact: Simon.northcott@warriors.co.uk or call 07809 676008.
