Military Wives Choir to star at Warriors Armed Forces Day

The Military Wives Choir will be performing live at Warriors’ Armed Forces Day at the Gallagher Premiership match against Exeter Chiefs at Sixways on Sunday November 3 (kick-off 3.00pm).

The choir first came to prominence when they appeared on the BBC television series ‘The Choir’ under the tutelage of choirmaster Gareth Malone and they now have a network of 75 choirs at military bases across the UK and overseas.

The Military Wives Choir will be performing on the stage in the new Fanzone at Sixways before from 1pm to 2pm on Sunday and again on the pitch during the half-time interval.

Their set list will include We Will Remember Them and Stronger Together, which will be performed both pre-match and during half-time, and Poppy Red, Rule the World and Bridge Over Troubled Water among their other pre-match songs.

The Armed Forces Day will also include Warriors’ annual Remembrance Service when all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice on active service will be honoured.

All seats for the Exeter match will be on sale at a “ticket special” of £20 for adults and £10 for juniors in all parts of the stadium.

There will also be 1,000 special edition Warriors poppy pins from the Royal British Legion on sale around the ground on matchday.

Serving servicemen, women and veterans from local regiments, will parade on the Sixways pitch whilst a drumhead is formed on the centre circle. Drumhead services were often conducted near the battlefront where the military command used its drums, piled neatly and draped them with appropriate colours, to create a makeshift altar.

David Waldron, County Chairman of the Worcestershire branch of the Royal British Legion, will recite the Act of Remembrance before the minute’s silence followed by reveille performed by buglers.

Collections for the Royal British Legion will be held throughout the day by members of the St Johns Branch of the British Legion, 214 (Worcestershire) Battery RA, 4 Mercian, 202 Fd Hosp, 187 (City of Worcester) Squadron ATC, and B Coy Hereford & Worcester ACF.

Other activities will be provided by the 214 (Worcestershire) Battery RA who are bringing a light gun and Pinzgauer vehicle and recruiting gazebos and displays from 4 Mercian Regiment and 202 Field Hospital.
