Warriors Women to take on British Army

Warriors Women will prepare for next month’s Tyrrells Premier 15s match against Bristol Bears by taking on the British Army at Sixways on Friday November 22 (kick-off 7.30pm).

Jo Yapp’s side will host the Army in the friendly – with entry free for spectators – as the squads builds towards the Bristol match, on Sepsis Awareness Day, at Sixways on Sunday December 1.

The game will take on another dimension for Warriors Women player, and former Australian Army Corporal, Lucy Lockhart who will be looking for some international bragging rights.

“There’s nothing better than a good old international rivalry. It will be good to catch up with a few of the girls after the game and see how they find the British Army, get some comparisons,” she said.

“It’s going to be really exciting to see how similar we might play to the Army because we are fitness focused and that comes into our game play.

“In the Australian Army, our team was very fit and that was one of our strengths so I think that’s what we’ll be looking for when we play the British Army in the coming weeks.

“It will be good to have a hit out before the Premier 15s starts up again. We want to get a win before our next game to have that winning feeling instilled within us going into the Bristol Bears.”

Warriors Director of Rugby Yapp is also hoping the game will be good preparation for the Bristol match.

“We are really looking forward to this fixture,” Yapp added.

“It is always an honour to play against the Army we know this will be a great test for our players and good preparation leading into the next round of Tyrrells Premier 15s games.”
