Jo Yapp and Sasha Acheson won the battle of Warriors Women as Barbarians Women beat Wales Women 29-15 in an entertaining encounter at the Principality Stadium on Saturday.
Yapp, Warriors Women Director of Rugby, coached the Barbarians to victory in their first-ever meeting with Wales while England prop Acheson came off the bench for the famous invitation club.
Three Warriors Women, lock Gwen Crabb, back-row forward Alex Callender and scrum-half Ffion Lewis, were in the Wales side with Callender getting on the scoresheet by crossing for their third try from long range in the second half.
But the Barbarians had taken an unassailable 29-0 lead by the break which included five sparkling tries.
“I think the energy that the girls had all week meant they could not wait to get out there today,” said Yapp.
“We have been integrated with the men and to be part of the bigger club — it is really special.
“To be sat at a table with the likes of Warren Gatland, that is also special.”
