Team news | Best man Howe to start against Dragons

Warriors wing Tom Howe will be in a more familiar role when he returns to action against Dragons in Friday’s European Challenge Cup match at Rodney Parade (kick-off 8.00pm).

Howe had to miss last Saturday’s 34-28 win over Dragons at Sixways because he had a prior engagement, acting as best man at his brother’s wedding in Oxfordshire.

Howe is available this weekend and will get his first start since he scored a hat-trick of tries in the Premiership Rugby Cup match against Exeter Chiefs in early October.

Chris Pennell has recovered from the blow to the head he sustained against Dragons last week and is the only starter in a much-changed Warriors XV.

Howe’s fellow wing Perry Humphreys, who was a late withdrawal last week, is fit again and starts with Pennell, who took his place, reverting to full-back.

Jono Lance will partner Ashley Beck in the centre because Ryan Mills and Ollie Lawrence both took knocks against Dragons and South Africa international Francois Venter has been ruled by a similar injury which he sustained against Sale Sharks two weeks ago.

Hooker Matt Moulds (dead leg) and back row forward Tom Dodd (ribs) are also missing but 19-year-old Noah Heward who was Man of the Match on a try-scoring debut last week retains his place in the squad as a replacement.
