Scott van Breda believes that fun, enjoyment and the encouragement for player to express themselves has been reflected in two dominant performances by Cavaliers in this season’s Premiership Rugby Shield.

Having beaten Sale Jets in a fast and furious encounter last month, Cavaliers followed by running in 11 tries in a 75-21 hammering of Wasps A at Sixways on Monday.

Van Breda contributed 23 points to the win – a first half try and nine conversions – from the centre.

“It’s so much fun. We have a good bunch of boys, we trained hard on Thursday and Friday and this was the result,” said van Breda.

“We just go out to give 100 per cent and have a lot of fun. The coaches encourage us to go out and express ourselves and, as you saw against Wasps, it was just so much fun. That’s the best way to describe it – it’s just fun.

“The mentality of the team is we don’t stand back for anyone. The better we play as a team, the more we are going to challenge ourselves.”

Cavaliers are next in action on Saturday December 21 when they make the short trip to Kingsholm to face Gloucester United (kick-off 12.00pm) in a top-of-the-table clash between the two unbeaten sides in the Northern Conference of the Shield.

Cavaliers then return to Sixways on Monday December 30 when Northampton Wanderers will be the visitors (kick-off 7.30pm).
