UNDER-13S GIRLS RELISH SIXWAYS EXPERIENCE

Worcester RFC Under-13s girls’ team were inspired by playing at Sixways ahead of Warriors Women’s Tyrrells Premier 15s fixture against Saracens last week.

The budding stars of the future took on a strong Old Hales outfit, with Warriors Women club captain Lyndsay O’Donnell and Taz Bricknell supporting the girls from the touchline.

The girls from both teams were then treated to an enthralling encounter between Warriors Women and Saracens afterwards, with Jo Yapp’s side picking up a well-earned try bonus point thanks to scores from Vicky Laflin, Laura Keates, Sioned Harries and a penalty try.

“The girls had an amazing day and to get the opportunity to play at Sixways where they would normally watch their idols play, was a great experience for them,” said Liz Simon, Worcester RFC Under-13s Girls Manager.

“The girls had a great time and they all enjoyed watching the Warriors versus Saracens game.”

Warriors skipper O’Donnell, who is continuing her recovery from injury, said: “It was great to have the under-13s play their game as a curtain raiser ahead of our game.

“The quality of rugby on show was impressive, especially their handling skills. Hopefully the girls will grow and develop through Worcester’s age groups and progress to the Centre of Excellence, eventually playing for Warriors Women.”
