Warriors have unveiled the new Acorns Charity Matchday Shirt which will be worn by the players in the Gallagher Premiership match against Bath Rugby at Sixways on Saturday February 15 (kick-off 3.00pm) and then go under the hammer.
The new Valentine’s Day-themed shirt is a colourful addition to the 2019/20 shirt collection and was designed by eight-year-old Warriors fan Tommy Smallpage.
He won a competition across schools in Worcestershire and Junior Warriors members to design a shirt incorporating the themes of Valentine’s Day and love. A panel selected designs from four finalists which were then displayed on the big screens at Sixways during the Gallagher Premiership match against Sale Sharks in November.
Tommy’s eye-catching design came top in a supporters’ vote on Twitter, with his design incorporating an orange colour scheme as seen across Warriors’ 19/20 training wear. The traditional red hearts are a reference to Valentine’s Day.
The limited-edition shirts will be available to purchase from the Sixways Store on the day of the big game with all proceeds going to Acorns, who support children with life-shortening or life-threatening conditions and their families.
Fans can get their hands on the matchday shirts worn and signed by the players by requesting a silent auction form from the club or by entering online after the Bath match. All proceeds raised will again go to Acorns.
Warriors hooker Niall Annett, who is the club’s Acorns Player Ambassador, said: “The Acorns Charity Matchday is an annual fixture for us and one that we always look forward to. It’s a change of strip for us too and it is an opportunity to raise money for such an amazing cause.
“The Valentine’s Day theme has been incorporated into the design of the kit and is a bit of fun, which is what the day is all about for the supporters and hopefully loads of people buy it, with all the money going to such a fantastic cause.”
There will also be bucket collections around the ground in support of Acorns.
