Weir named in Scotland squad for remaining Six Nations matches

Warriors’ fly-half Duncan Weir has been named in Scotland’s 37-man squad for their last two matches in this season’s Guinness Six Nations.

Weir, who has won 27 international caps, has been involved in Scotland’s training squads for their three Six Nations matches so far this season but has yet to be named in the matchday 23.

While Weir has retained his place in Scotland’s squad for Sunday’s match against Grand Slam-seeking France at Murrayfield and the finale against Wales in Cardiff on March 14, there is no place for his Warriors team-mate Cornell du Preez.

The back-row made his international return as a replacement in Scotland’s Six Nations opener against Ireland in Dublin last month but Edinburgh’s Lewis Carmichael has been recalled after a year-long injury absence for the last two matches.

Warriors’ blindside flanker Ted Hill has been left out of England’s squad for Saturday’s match against Wales at Twickenham having suffered a hip injury against Leicester Tigers at Welford Road at the weekend.
