Matt Cox

Every club should have a Matt Cox; a model professional who trains hard and plays harder and who goes about his work in a no-nonsense way.

Cox played junior rugby for Woodrush in south Birmingham but was soon picked up by Warriors’s Academy and he marked his senior debut with a try against Wasps in April 2008.

Cox represented England at every age group from Under-18s to Under-20s and also played for England Sevens during his first spell before he joined Gloucester in 2010

He spent four seasons at Kingsholm, helping Gloucester win the LV= Cup in 2011 before returning to Sixways in 2014 and helping Warriors win promotion back to the Premiership in the first season of his second spell.

Cox’s ability to play across the back three of the scrum is a valued asset and he has so far made 99 appearances in his two stints at Sixways.

Christian Evans

Christian Evans was the unsung hero of the Warriors side that won promotion to the Premiership for the first time in 2004.

A consummate professional, Evans rarely had a bad game and his consistency was rewarded with the Players’ Player of the Year Award at the end of that season.

But Evans missed out on playing Premiership rugby again as he retired in the summer of 2004 through a combination of injury and taking on the family business.

Evans joined Warriors from Bristol in 2000 and previously played in France for Bayonne as well as representing Wales A.

Tom Wood

Tom Wood joined the Warriors Academy from Barkers’ Butts, a famous rugby nursery in Coventry, where his father, Andy, had been captain and a respected number eight.

Having gained valuable senior experience by playing for North Otago in New Zealand, Wood made his Warriors debut against Bath in September 2007 and emerged as one of England’s most exciting back-row talents during three years with Warriors.

Having made 64 appearances and scored five tries, Wood joined Northampton in 2010 and was soon playing for England Saxons, then senior international rugby.

He won his first cap against Wales in the 2011 Six Nations and his 50th and last against Ireland three years ago. Wood captained Northampton when they beat Saracens in the 2014 Premiership final.

Ted Hill

Few players have enjoyed such a meteoric rise as Ted Hill. He marked his Warriors’ debut with two tries as a replacement to help set up victory over Leicester at Welford Road in September 2018 and within two months he had made his England debut off the bench against Japan at Twickenham.

Hill played his formative club rugby at Malvern, where his father, Vince, was a former captain and progressed to the Academy at Sixways via the Worcester Sixth Form College AASE programme.

Tall and strong, Hill is a powerful ball-carrier, ferocious tackler and excellent lineout jumper who has established himself as a first team regular in only his second season of senior rugby.

Hill played for England at every age group from Under-16s to Under-20s and was just 17 when he was an Under-20s Six Nations Grand Slam winner in 2017.
