Pat Sanderson

Pat Sanderson became the first player to be capped by England when he ran out against Australia at Twickenham in November 2005.

By that time Sanderson had already won six caps – his first as a 20-year-old on England’s ‘Tour of Hell’ to the Southern Hemisphere in 1998.

Sanderson began his career with Sale Sharks before joining Harlequins in 1999 then moving to Sixways in 2004 for Warriors’ first season in the Premiership.

He proved an inspired signing, leading Warriors by splendid example as captain for six seasons before a shoulder injury forced him to retire in 2011.

Sam Betty

Sam Betty was signed by Warriors’ then Director of Rugby Richard Hill after he impressed playing for Cornish Pirates in the second leg of the 2010-11 Championship final.

Betty spent six years with Pirates, having joined them from Truro, and clocked up 136 appearances during his time at the Mennaye.

He quickly adapted to Premiership rugby and was voted Warriors’ Players’ Player of the Year in 2012.

Betty played a major role in helping Warriors win promotion back to the Premiership in 2015, scoring 18 tries in 22 matches in the Championship-winning campaign. He retired in 2017 having made 120 appearances for Warriors.

Sam Lewis

Sam Lewis is everything an openside flanker should be – aggressive in defence, quick to the breakdown and a confident ball handler with pace to match.

He joined Warriors from Ospreys in October 2015 and his tireless work around the pitch has made him a crowd favourite at Sixways.

Lewis announced himself by scoring four tries in just five games in Warriors’ 2014-15 Championship-winning season, including a hat-trick against London Scottish in the semi-final second leg.

He missed the 2015-16 season because of a shoulder injury but made a successful return to action the following season and has since become one of the Premiership’s top tacklers.

Nathan Carter

Nathan Carter was a fearless, hard and mobile openside flanker who gave Warriors excellent service for three seasons between 1999 and 2002.

He gained his rugby education playing for Gordon League in the school of hard knocks that is club rugby in Gloucester and then played Premiership rugby for Gloucester.

He was one of several players who made the short journey from Kingsholm to Sixways in the late 1990s and started 25 of Warriors’ 28 league matches in his first season.

Carter joined Birmingham & Solihull from Warriors and was a member of the side that defeated Wasps in the Powergen Cup quarter-finals in February 2004. He later returned to Gordon League as coach.
