Dean Hammond joins Ealing Trailfinders

Warriors wing Dean Hammond has signed for Greene King IPA Championship club Ealing Trailfinders for the 2020/21 season.

Hammond, 27, joined Warriors in September 2013 , initially as an Academy player from Western Province in his native South Africa.

He made his Warriors debut later that month as a replacement against Wasps and made his 50th appearance against the same opponents in March 2017.

In almost seven years at Sixways, Hammond has made 81 appearances and scored 29 tries with his most recent appearance coming in the European Challenge Cup victory over Enisei-STM in Krasnodar in November when he unfortunately suffered a season-ending ankle injury.

Having played key roles in Warriors’ Championship and British & Irish Cup double in 2014/15, Hammond will join ambitious Ealing with the best wishes of everyone at Sixways.

“We wish Dean all the very best in his new venture and thank him for his contribution to Warriors for almost seven years,” said Warriors’ Director of Rugby Alan Solomons.

“On a personal note, I have really enjoyed working with Dean. He is a good bloke who always puts the team first. He will always be welcome back at Sixways.”

Before he joined Warriors, Hammond attended Stellenbosch University and represented the Maties – the university’s first XV – before then playing for Cape Town-based Western Province.

He also played for South Africa’s sevens side in 2011 and South Africa Under-20s in the 2012 IRB Junior World Championship.
