Warriors Multi-Sport Camps a huge success

Warriors are getting ready for a second week of Multi-Sport Camps after a successful introduction at Sixways this week.

Social distancing regulations which have been introduced because of the COVID-19 pandemic meant that Warriors have been unable to run their popular rugby camps since lockdown began.

Instead the Community Rugby team have introduced a series of Multi-Sport Camps for youngsters which have allowed them to play a variety of sports including football, cricket, rounders and handball all within a safe, socially-distanced environment.

The Sixways-based camps will return with a two-day camp on Monday August 24 and Tuesday August 25 and one-day camp on Thursday August 27.

All the camps are being run in line with Department for Education guidelines with group sizes with a maximum of 15. There are also staggered starts to minimise the amount of contact with other groups. All equipment is sanitised before and after use and there are regular breaks to allow participants and coaches to sanitise their hands.

“We thought the whole booking process was really swift and efficient with confirmation received almost instantly,” said Simon Butcher, whose son, Harry, took part in one of this week’s camos.

“The COVID survey on the morning of each camp and the check-in process was seamless and, most importantly. Harry had a brilliant day and loved every activity.”
