WARRIORS WOMEN PAIR HELP RED ROSES TO VICTORY IN FRANCE

Warriors Women’s Laura Keates and Alex Matthews helped the Red Roses get their 2020 Autumn Internationals off to winning ways with a 33-10 victory over France in Grenoble.

Matthews crossed for a try just after the break, while Keates who was back on international duty for the first time since 2017, came off the bench for Simon Middleton’s side.

Back-row Matthews got herself on the score sheet with a fine try just after the break as she scythed through a gap to dot down under the posts.

Matthews’ try came at a crucial time, her score putting the Red Roses 17-10 ahead after Emily Scarratt’s conversion. It was no surprise to see the athletic back-rows infectious smile after she crossed the whitewash for a well-deserved try.

Amy Cockayne and Jess Breach were England’s other scorers, the duo crossing in either half as the result ensured number one ranking in the world for the Red Roses.

The Red Roses boast a six-match winning streak against France, winning 10 of the last 11 meetings.
