Ollie Lawrence to start for England against Ireland

Warriors centre Ollie Lawrence will win his third England cap in Saturday’s Autumn Nations Cup match against Ireland at Twickenham (kick-off 3.00pm).

Having made his international debut as a replacement against Italy in Rome in the Guinness Six Nations finale three weeks ago, Lawrence made his first in England’s 40-0 victory over Georgia in the Autumn Nations Cup opener last weekend.

Lawrence played the first 60 minutes against Georgia and he will again partner Exeter Chiefs’ Henry Slade in the centre in the starting XV against Ireland.

“I’ve picked the strongest team possible for the most important game of our season,” said England Head Coach Eddie Jones.

“We have the highest respect for the Ireland and their coach Andy Farrell.  They’ve had good preparation with two wins and a dominant display against Wales, and we will need to be at our best on Saturday.

“We’ve trained well this week, we’re expecting a tough, physical game against Ireland and we’ve reflected that in our sessions.  We’ll look to lift our performance even higher and are looking forward to a really good game of rugby.”

Saturday’s match will be shown live on Channel 4 and Amazon Prime Video.
