TEAM NEWS | MEG VARLEY SET FOR 50TH APPEARANCE

Meg Varley will make her 50th appearance for Warriors Women on Sunday when Harlequins Women make the trip to Sixways Stadium in Round 9 of the Allianz Premier 15s (kick-off 2pm).

The powerful centre joined Worcester Juniors aged 15 and has been a mainstay of Warriors’ backline having represented England Under-20s on a series of occasions.

Varley has been in good form in recent weeks and is named in a side which sees two changes from last week’s well-earned 15-13 victory at Bristol Bears Women.

Hannah Bluck starts her first Premier 15s game of the campaign, the Wales international getting the nod on the wing, while Caity Mattinson starts at scrum-half as Warriors look to end 2020 on a high going into the Christmas break.

Sioned Harries captains the side after an impressive display last time out and Vicky Laflin switches from wing to full-back.

“We’re really looking forward to the game on Sunday and last week was a really good win for us as we continue to build,” said Warriors Women Director of Rugby Jo Yapp.

“We’re under no illusion at the challenge that awaits us this weekend – Quins are unbeaten this eason and they have a really strong team.

“The big focus for us is on ourselves and building week on week.”

Sixways will once again host supporters this weekend, with Worcestershire having remained in Tier 2 of the Government’s guidelines. The stadium is also opening up its hospitality suites for the game, further underlining the progress that the women’s game is making in Worcester.

“It’s the first time that the club has opened up hospitality for a women’s game and it’s brilliant to see the club doing that and hopefully we’ll get lots of people in there,” added Yapp.

Tickets for the game can be purchased here and hospitality, which includes a three-course meal and a match ticket on the EBC Club Balcony, is on sale here.
