TEAM NEWS | WARRIORS WOMEN SET FOR LIGHTNING CHALLENGE

Warriors Women have made four changes for tomorrow’s Allianz Premier 15s trip to Loughborough Lightning (kick-off 2pm, streamed live).

Heather Fisher starts at centre, the summer signing buoyed by her selection in the Team GB Sevens squad ahead of the rescheduled Tokyo Olympics. Alex Matthews, who also joins her in the Team GB set-up, switches to number-eight as Taz Bricknell comes in at blindside flanker.

Carmen Tremelling rounds off the changes in the pack, getting the nod at loosehead prop alongside fellow front-rows Carys Phillips and Flo Long.

After coming off the bench against Exeter Chiefs for her first taste of action following a lengthy injury lay-off, Carys Cox starts at full-back and will undoubtedly be keen to hit the ground running at University Stadium.

“We’re all really excited to get back to Premier 15s action and we’ve had a good review following our last match less than two weeks ago,” said Academy Transition and Women’s Forwards Coach Mike Hill.

“We’ve had a bit more time to go into more detail and that has hopefully set us up nicely going into the weekend.

“Loughborough have quality players throughout the spine of their team, with internationals, great skill-set, good kicking game and they have threats all over the park.

“That been said, we’ve worked on a lot of things both in attack and defence and we’ll be looking to be more consistent when we get the opportunity to cause our opponents problems.

“They have threats all over and we just need to focus on implementing our game plan.”
