Sixways Stadium ready for summer bounce back

Sixways Stadium is gearing-up for a jam-packed summer of events when Covid restrictions are removed on July 19.

The hospitality and events industry has been brought to its knees throughout the Pandemic, with last night’s Government briefing led by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, welcome relief for Warriors and the rest of the UK.

Health secretary Sajid Javid has indicated that the vaccinations had created a ‘protective wall’ which means there will no longer be any limits on how many people can meet and the one metre plus distancing rule will be removed.

Kicking off with a double-header on Friday August 6 with An Evening of Abba and then An Evening of Queen on Saturday August 7, the excitement continues to gather pace at the state-of-the-art Sixways Stadium in anticipation of smiles, laughter and copious amounts of dancing.

An Evening of Tina takes place on August 27 starring Tsemaye Bob-Egbe, who is a leading West End actress, performer, writer and voice-over artist.

Laura Napper, Head of Venue and Events at Sixways Stadium is thrilled at the prospect of welcoming revellers to the home of Warriors.

“It has been an incredibly tough year for everyone, and we welcome the news that we can re-open safely without the need for Covid-19 restrictions,” she said.

“Initially the events were due to take place from July, however we wanted to give our paying audience the opportunity to enjoy our fantastic events in as enjoyable setting as possible.

“A vast amount of work has gone on behind the scenes here at Sixways to ensure that it is as safe as possible for all our visitors.

“We have three truly amazing shows featuring stars of the West End and they are the perfect opportunity for people to let their hair down and blow off the cobwebs following a very difficult 16 months.”

The re-opening of the hospitality and events industry is a watershed moment for everyone in the UK, with an emphasis now on supporting local businesses in Worcester and creating jobs for casual workers here at Sixways.

Spearheaded by co-owners Colin Goldring and Jason Whittingham, Warriors have come through unbelievable adversity to ensure that the club is able to host top class events in the near future and beyond and the club stands united in looking forward to brighter days ahead.

“We are very excited to open up fully again and welcome as many guests as possible into an environment which is as safe as it can be,” said Peter Kelly, Managing Director at Worcester Warriors.

“After 18 hard months we all deserve to have some great entertainment with our family and friends and the Sixways family look forward to welcoming you all.”
