Talented trio continue development at Sixways

Carmen Tremelling, Abby Smitheman and Charlotte Wright Haley round off the re-signings for Warriors Women as preparations step up a gear going into the 2021/22 Allianz Premier 15s campaign.

“Carmen has been with us since 2017 and has proved to be a versatile front-row, Abby showed great potential last season and Charlotte is a talented back-row who can cause a nuisance at the breakdown,” said Forwards Coach Liza Burgess.

“We are pleased to have Carmen join us again this season. Abby came through the pathway in recent seasons, and we are excited to see her continue her development with us.

“Charlotte works hard around the park and it is great to see her join us again this season.”

Talented hooker Tremelling was in fine form for Warriors last season, scoring a hat-trick of tries during her side’s 29-21 victory over Bristol Bears at Sixways in spring.

“I’m really looking forward to going into my fifth season with Warriors,” said Tremelling, who started her rugby journey with Doncaster RFU.

“It’s been a tough pre-season and I’m looking forward to playing with the girls and fighting for the number-two jersey.”

Prop Smitheman made her senior debut as a second half replacement in Warriors’ comeback victory at home to Sale Sharks back in early March having come through the club’s pathway system.

She said: “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to play and train with such an amazing family that Worcester Warriors have created.

“I want to build on the fantastic experiences that I’ve already had at Warriors.”

Part of the England Under-18s sevens squad in 2017, back-row Wright Haley won the European Championship in France and is currently undertaking a degree in Sports Psychology at the University of Worcester.

“I’m buzzing to be back at Sixways Stadium for my second season,” said Wright Haley.

“I can’t wait to build on what we did last season.”
