Experienced Scotland international joins Warriors Women

Warriors Women have completed the signing of Scotland hooker Lana Skeldon ahead of this afternoon’s World Cup qualifier against Italy in Parma, which will see her win her 44th cap (kick-off 2pm BST, live on BBC Alba).

Skeldon, 27, has appeared in multiple Six Nations and World Cup campaigns having made her Scotland debut against the Netherlands in 2011. Named as one of eight contracted Scotland players ahead of the 2018/19 season, Skeldon toured South Africa in the summer of 2019 where she helped her side win two of its matches.

The Melrose-born front-row played in her eighth Six Nations tournament earlier this year and was an ever-present in each of Scotland’s three games against England, Italy and Wales. She came up against Warriors’ wing Lydia Thompson in the opening game at Castle Park, Doncaster.

Teaming up with fellow compatriot and Club Captain Lyndsay O’Donnell, Skeldon is relishing the challenge of playing in what she describes as ‘one of the best leagues in the world.’

“I’m really excited to be joining Warriors and I can’t wait to join up with the squad after the qualifiers,” said Skeldon, who has represented Scotland at under-16, under-18 and under-20 level.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to develop as a player amongst some incredible individuals at Sixways and it will be great to play in the Allianz Premier 15s, which is one of the best leagues in the world.”

Warriors Women Director of Rugby Jo Yapp added: “Lana is a very talented and experienced player who brings great physicality to the team.

“We are really pleased that she has decided to join the Warriors family and we wish her well in her upcoming qualifiers.”
