New faces in Warriors’ ACE League matchday squad

Stourport High School and Sixth Form College, Warriors’ RFU ACE League side, have included three debutants in their matchday squad to play Bishop Burton College, the Yorkshire regional team, at Sixways on Wednesday (kick-off 3.00pm).

Blindside flanker Jacob Jeremiah, who plays his club rugby in Wales for Pontypridd, will start in the pack with Droitwich’s Jack Kelly and another Pontypridd player, Will Graham, among the replacements.

Stourport opened their season with a thrilling victory over Oaklands College (Saracens) two weeks ago before being edged out by Gosforth Academy (Newcastle Falcons) last week.

The improved strength in depth of Stourport’s squad is likely to be tested this week as six players are unavailable through injury or illness but, as in previous matches, the newcomers have fitted in seamlessly.

The ACE – Academies, Colleges and Education – scheme is targeted at talented Year 12 and Year 13 students who have the aspirations and potential to play at the elite end of the game.

The scheme gives boys the opportunity to combine rugby training on a daily basis at Sixways with academic study at Stourport HS which allows the students to not only gain an excellent education, but also experience high quality rugby training and match opportunities.

Stourport HS | 15 Billy Emerick (Upton on Severn), 14 George Evans (Claverdon), 13 William Pugh (Luctonians), 12 Archie Jones (Bridgnorth), 11 Mikey Yalland (unattached), 10 Dan Chambers (Wolverhampton), Jamie Heafield (Kings Norton), 1 Arron Hackett (Stourbridge), 2 Ethan Allen (Telford Hornets), 3 Miles Walters (Wolverhampton), 4 Fin Haynes (Claverdon), 5 George Moffitt (Shrewsbury), 6 Jacob Jeremiah (Pontypridd), 7 Harry Burrows (Shrewsbury), 8 Tom O’Neill (Worcester).
