Warriors ACE League team edged out in windy Oxford

Stourport High School & Sixth Form College went down 36-26 to City of Oxford College, their Wasps counterparts, in their latest match in the RFU ACE League.

The match, played at Oxford Harlequins RFC, was an entertaining affair and Stourport appeared to be heading for victory when they opened up a 26-7 lead by half-time.

Stourport also had a try bonus point in the bag with hooker Ethan Allen (Telford Hornets), wing George Evans (Claverdon) and centres Archie Jones (Bridgnorth) and Will Pugh (Luctonians) crossing and fly-half Dan Chambers (Wolverhampton) landing three conversions.

But with a strong wind in their faces in the second half, Stourport were unable to dd to their points tally and City of Oxford eventually wore them down.

Stourport were still in front with five minutes to go but late tries gave City of Oxford the win and denied Stourport a losing bonus point.

Stourport host Brooksby Melton College, their counterparts from Leicester Tigers, at Sixways on Wednesday October 6 (kick-off 3.00pm).
