Warriors loan players are all winners

Nine Warriors players enjoyed a successful weekend as they finished on the winning side representing four clubs on loan in either the RFU Championship or National Two North.

Three Pears Warriors Academy trio Morgan Monks, Fin Smith and Ollie Wynn enjoyed back-to-back Championship wins with Ampthill, the latest a 22-13 win over London Scottish at the Richmond Athletic Ground on Saturday.

Monks started at number eight and played the first 64 minutes while Smith and Wynn came on as replacements after 58 minutes. England Under-20s fly-half Smith kicked two penalties to help seal Ampthill’s win.

Wing Tom Howe and hooker Joe Richardson helped Coventry to a 10-5 win over Richmond at the Butts Park Arena on Saturday.

Howe played the full 80 minutes and Richardson came off the bench 15 minutes into the second half as Coventry edged a tight contest played in miserable conditions.

Back-row forward Caleb Montgomery made it a hat-trick of wins for Warriors players in the Championship when he came off the bench for the last ten minutes of Cornish Pirates’ 15-12 victory over Ealing Trailfinders at the Mennaye Field on Sunday.

Montgomery helped a brave defensive rearguard action from the Pirates who inflicted a first defeat of the campaign on last season’s beaten finalists.

Loosehead prop Ben Murphy, lock Cheick Kone and back-row forward Jack Forsythe also enjoyed victory celebrations with Luctonians who triumphed 12-10 at Huddersfield in National Two North on Saturday.

Kone made his first start for the Herefordshire club and Murphy and Forsythe came off the bench in teh second half with Murphy setting up Forsythe for a well-executed try.

Luctonians are coached by Ryan Watkins, who manages Warriors’ ACE – Academies, Colleges and Education – programme.
