Alycia Washington in USA squad

Warriors Women second-row Alycia Washington has been named in the USA Women’s Eagles squad for their autumn internationals, which includes a Test Match against England at Worcester’s Sixways Stadium on Sunday 21 November (kick-off 2.45pm).

Washington, 31, has enjoyed an impressive start to life in the Allianz Premier 15s, having scored three tries in her opening five games for Warriors.

The Eagles have back-to-back Tests against Canada on 1 November and 5 November, before travelling to Europe to take on Ireland and England on 12 and 21 November respectively.

“We haven’t played a Test Match since November 2019, so it was incredible to see us getting the chance to play against some of the top teams in the world and see where we’re at as a team,” said the Connecticut-born forward.

“It will be amazing to face up against England, particularly my Warriors teammates, who I have learned so much from since joining the club.

“I’ll give them a hug after the game, but it will be all business for the full 80 minutes.”

Reflecting on life in Worcester, Washington added: “I’ve had an incredible time getting to know my new teammates, the new structures and learning from my new coaches. I came in knowing there was a lot of pressure on me to perform and do a job, and my teammates have made it really easy for me to want to do a job for them.

“They have made it feel like they are my family and they have guided me, looked after me and I know as soon as I step foot onto the pitch, I’m here to do a job for them.”
