Warriors support fundraising for injured Redditch player

Warriors are supporting fundraising for Ashley Mooney, a 29-year-old player from Redditch, who tragically broke his neck playing in a match against Cannock two weeks ago.

Ashley is an on-call firefighter for Herefordshire & Worcestershire Fire Service and is self-employed, running a landscaping and roofing company.

In addition to playing as a three-quarter for Redditch, Ashley also plays for the England Fire Service representative team.

Ashley is currently in hospital on a ventilator and will be there for at least six more weeks before he is transferred to a specialist spinal injury rehabilitation centre in Wales.

Ashley is also a Warriors supporter and everyone at the club still remembers the dreadful career-ending neck injury suffered by lock Michael Fatialofa at Saracens in January 2020.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Ashley and his family. Donations can be made here

A bucket collection for Ashley will be taken during Saturday’s Gallagher Premiership match against Leicester Tigers.
