Mixed fortunes for Warriors players on loan

There were mixed fortunes for nine Warriors players in Championship or National Leagues loan action at the weekend.

Back-row forward Caleb Montgomery and lock James Scott both tasted victory in the Championship and props Kai Owen and Joe Morris helped Birmingham Moseley to a thrilling 33-32 home win against Leeds Tykes in National One.

Montgomery came off the bench for Cornish Pirates midway through the second half of their 32-8 bonus point win over Nottingham at Lady Bay on Friday night.

Scott made his seasonal debut for Hartpury – and his first appearance for the Gloucestershire club in two years – in their 62-19 demolition of London Scottish at the Richmond Athletic Ground on Saturday.

Back-row forward Morgan Monks started for Ampthill against Jersey Reds at the Stade Santander International and helped to set up both of their tries. But Monks’ contribution was not quite enough to bring Ampthill victory as Jersey rallied to secure a 17-17 draw.

Warriors scrum-half Ollie Wynn was an unused replacement for Ampthill.

Wing Tom Howe played the full 80 minutes for Coventry in their 73-24 trouncing by Championship leaders Ealing Trailfinders at the Butts Park Arena.

At Billesley Common, loosehead Owen started and tighthead Morris came off the bench for Moseley who clinched victory with a late long range try.

Flanker Jack Forsythe started and looshead prop Ben Murphy came off the bench for Luctonians who were beaten 32-26 by Wharfedale at Mortimer Park. Luctonians took two bonus points from the defeat.
