International Watch | Warriors Women in action

Warriors Women have nine players in action for their country this weekend, with England, Canada, Wales, Scotland, Japan and USA all represented.

Alycia Washington starts for USA Eagles as they take on Ireland this evening (kick-off 7.15pm), the second-row having been rested for last week’s defeat to Canada. Washington will be hoping to impress ahead of USA’s trip to Sixways next Sunday when they take on an England side which includes Alex Matthews and Lydia Thompson.

Wales host South Africa at Cardiff Arms Park tomorrow (kick-off 12.15pm) as they look to build on last week’s impressive 23-5 victory over Japan, a game which saw Carys Phillips make her long-awaited return to the squad. Phillips starts tomorrow’s game, with club teammate Ffion Lewis getting the nod at scrum-half after impressing when she came off the bench last week. Alex Callender and Caryl Thomas are among the replacements, both of whom will undoubtedly bring added fire-power when introduced to the field.

There is a double helping of international rugby on Sunday with England versus Canada kicking things off at Twickenham Stoop (kick-off 2.30pm, live on BBC Two). Matthews is on the bench for England, while Paige Farries starts on the wing for Canada as they look to build on a solid autumn campaign. Thompson has been rested and could win her 50th Red Roses cap at Sixways next Sunday.

Scotland against Japan rounds off the weekend (kick-off 5.10pm), a clash which sees Lana Skeldon and Minori Yamamoto go up against each other. Skeldon, who has taken the Allianz Premier 15s by storm since making the move to Sixways, starts at hooker for Scotland, while fly-half Yamamoto is named on the bench for the Cherry Blossoms.
