Team News | Allianz Cup semi-finals

Warriors Women take on Harlequins in the Allianz Cup semi-finals at Surrey Sports Park tomorrow, with Jo Yapp’s side in fine fettle following last week’s 34-27 victory at Loughborough Lightning (kick-off 2pm).

England Under-20 full-back Abi Kershaw returns to the starting XV and is one of five changes to the side that defeated Loughborough, a result which booked Warriors’ place in the last four.

Hard-hitting centre Meg Varley comes in at inside centre, while Vicky Laflin gets the nod on the wing. Prop Stef Evans and blindside flanker Cara Brincat get their chance to impress from the start, with the firepower of Jade Shekells available from the bench.

“Last week the girls rallied around and found a way to win and it’s important to have that mindset, so we’re really pleased that the girls managed to do that,” said Director of Rugby Yapp.

“It just gives us that depth going into next season, seeing these players getting great exposure to playing games and being in a semi-final against Harlequins this weekend is only going to make them stronger.”
